Terms of Service

Effective May 5, 2026

1. What this service is

AlfredStar (the “a3” agent) is an agentic StarCraft II opponent that observes the game, plans, and executes actions. You influence its play through written instructions and a battle lookup table. The service is delivered through a web application at alfredstar.com and an iOS application. Practices run on shared cloud infrastructure managed by AlfredStar; the agent's reasoning is performed by Anthropic models using your Anthropic API key.

2. Accounts

You sign in with Google (web) or Apple (iOS). One account per person. If the same email is used across both providers, both identities are linked to the same account. You are responsible for activity under your account. We may suspend or terminate access at our discretion for violation of these terms or any applicable law.

3. Age requirement

You must be at least 13 years old to use this service.

4. Your content

You own the instructions you write, the battle-table entries you create, and the practice configurations you submit. Practice event logs and end-of-practice notes generated by the service are stored on our infrastructure and are accessible to you while your account is active.

5. Bring-your-own Anthropic API key

AlfredStar runs practices using your own Anthropic API key. We encrypt the key at rest with AES-GCM under a key-encryption key held only as a Cloudflare Workers secret, decrypt it only at practice-dispatch time, and use it solely to call Anthropic on your behalf during practices you start. You can rotate or delete the key at any time from the Account screen.

You configure a per-practice USD cost cap on the Account screen. The agent exits early with reason budget_exhausted when that cap is crossed. The cap is applied to a practice at the moment it is created; in-flight practices keep the cap they started with.

You are responsible for all charges Anthropic bills to your account for inference run by the service. Your use of the Anthropic API is separately governed by Anthropic's terms.

6. Compute costs

Practice compute (Kubernetes jobs running the agent and the StarCraft II client) has real cost and is currently funded by AlfredStar. We may impose rate limits, queue practices, or introduce a paid tier in the future. Material changes will be announced before they take effect.

7. StarCraft II and Blizzard Entertainment

The service uses the StarCraft II API under Blizzard Entertainment's AI and Machine Learning License. Game replays and all in-game data remain the intellectual property of Blizzard Entertainment and are subject to their EULA.

AlfredStar is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Blizzard Entertainment. You agree not to use the service in ways that violate Blizzard's EULA or Machine Learning License.

8. Mobile app and Apple Push Notifications

The iOS app uses Apple Push Notifications to deliver practice-end alerts and Live Activity updates while a practice is running. You control delivery through iOS Settings, and you can revoke a device session at any time from the Account screen on the web. The iOS app is distributed through the Apple App Store and is also subject to Apple's standard end-user license terms.

9. Acceptable use

You may not:

  • Abuse or interfere with the shared compute infrastructure
  • Attempt to disrupt other users' practices or access other users' data, sessions, or keys
  • Reverse-engineer the StarCraft II client or API
  • Intentionally drive runaway charges to your Anthropic account through the service, or attempt to bypass the per-practice cost cap
  • Use the service for anything illegal

10. No warranties

The service is provided as-is and as-available. We make no guarantees about uptime, reliability, the correctness of agent decisions, or that your practice will complete without interruption. Resources are shared and finite.

11. Limitation of liability

AlfredStar and its operators are not liable for any loss or damage arising from use of the service, including lost practices, corrupted data, downtime, or third-party charges (including charges Anthropic bills to your account for inference run through the service), except to the extent such liability cannot be disclaimed under applicable law.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. Material changes will be communicated via email with 30 days notice. Continued use after that period constitutes acceptance.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario, Canada.
